AFC WAVERTON JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB
AFC Waverton Junior Football Club was formed with the aim of providing an opportunity for all local primary and secondary school children to play football. From the outset we have been affiliated to the Cheshire FA and initially we began with a core group of approximately 20 players. However, the club has grown a lot since then and we are now one of the biggest junior football clubs in Chester with almost 180 registered players across the age ranges - and we are still growing.

WAVERTON GOOD READ AWARD

Waverton gives an award to the best British debut novel published in the previous twelve months.  The competition is in two stages:

From October to late March, a team of villagers (over 100 at present) read and review all the books submitted by publishers.  A shortlist of 5 books is chosen.

  • From April to July, the shortlisted books are put in boxes around the village and everyone is invited to read them.  Books can be found in the post office, the hairdressers, church halls, the primary school and the village hall.  The winner is announced in July and an award dinner held the following October.

Waverton Good Read holds regular evening meetings when authors are invited to speak about their work.

For more information, look at our website at www.wavertongoodread.org.uk or contact Wendy on 01244 332053 ( petsmed@aol.com) or Gwen on 01244 336587 (gwen.goodhew@btinternet.com)

Waverton Pre-School

We have been established since 1989 and are run by a committee of parents and maintain a high level of qualified, experienced, valued and  permanent staff.

Attending

A few weeks before your child’s third birthday we will contact you to make arrangements for you and your child to attend for a morning session.  This will enable you both to become more familiar with the workings and ethos of the school.  The days your child attends Pre-School are determined by you and the number of children already attending on that particular day.

Snacks

Children are offered a healthy snack and a drink of water or milk.

Parental involvement

Waverton Pre-School is an active member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, we need and encourage parental involvement.  We value the input from parents and carers and so operate a rota system to assist staff in the day to day running of the sessions.  This enables parents/carers to help staff and also observe your own child.  More details are available in the enrolment pack. We are a well resourced group, due to an actively involved fundraising committee, run by parents.  Parents enjoy social events together.

What we do:-

Have fun and learn in a safe and caring environment.

Our group is

·        Ofsted Inspected.

·        Meets National standards.

·        Works within policies, set by parents and staff.

·        Works towards Early Learning Goals as set out by the Quality Curriculum Authority.

·        Provides equal opportunities for all.

Costs

The cost per session is £6 with grant places available for all children the term after their third birthday.  In cases of special need please speak to our Treasurer or Supervisor in confidence when financial help may be made available.
